Crye Precision SIX12 Modular Revolver Shotgun
Our first stop was at the Crye Precision Booth and they definitely have a lot of great products this year. To start out they have the SIX12 Modular Revolver Shotgun, which is their key show piece and is in the scope for future production. The standalone SIX12 Revolver Shotgun has a short barrel and is all Crye Precision except for the Magpul Handguard and fires Six 12 Gauge rounds utilizing a revolver style magazine.

Beretta ARX100 Updates for SHOT Show 2014
Beretta had their ARX100 on hand with the latest updates. They have now changed to a Chrome lined barrel and an adjustable gas system. Beretta also integrated a means for heat dissipation at the end of the handguard. This version of the ARX100 is expected soon in 5.56/.223 with .300 Blackout Kits somewhere in the future. After having shot it, we hope to see it in more hands soon.

MultiCam Family of Patterns at SHOT Show
Its early in the game, but here is what we have seen thus far for the MultiCam Black, Arid, and Tropic Patterns.
Crye Precision had their new LEO1 Pants on hand in the MultiCam Black Pattern.They also had their G3 Field Shirt and Field Pants in the Arid and Tropic Patterns.
Tru-Spec had their complete line in MultiCam Black as well as their TRU Extreme Uniform Shirt, which will also be available in the pattern.

Remington R51 Pistol SHOT Show 2014
As expected, the Remington R51 chambered in 9mm was a very popular pistol for SHOT Show, however we did manage to work our way in and check it out. It is easy to rack the slide but definitely does not feel smooth as you can feel the inner workings at play.

The R51 Subcompact Pistol was available in a standard model as well as one equipped with a Crimson Trace Laser, which quickly activates with a press on the grip safety. The Remington representative did note that additional calibers are in consideration. The R51 was not available at Range Day for any shooting as the rep. noted they would prefer to explain the pistol during SHOT Show at their booth, but we can see a lot of potential for Remington's latest handgun addition.

DPMS GII .308 Rifle
The new GII Rifle had 20 improvements from DPMS over its predecessor and weighs in at just 7.25 pounds. The rifle features a forged monolithic bolt carrier and improved extractor with dual extractors. The Upper and Lower Receiver are forged including an integral trigger guard and are Teflon Coated for long term durability.

Desert Tech SHOT Show 2014 MDR Rifle Presentation
We attended a press conference today, put on by Desert Tech to present their MDR and MDR-C Bullpup Rifles. You can see the unedited video in its entirety below. They will be looking to introduce the rifles in mid-2015 with plenty of fine tuning still in the works. Desert Tech is still finalizing design aspects before focusing on the best accuracy possible. The MDR and MDR-C will be available in multiple calibers starting out in .308 Win and .223 Rem respectively. They will later be adapted for .300 BLK, 7.62x39 and 6.8 SPC. Barrel lengths will be available in 16" and 10". Starting weight comes in at 7.5 pounds for the 16" barrel models. OAL is 27.62 inches for the .223 Rem model.

Desert Tech has a patent pending forward ejection mechanism for the MDR rifles with ambidextrous and intuitive controls. The charging handle is reciprocating. They are currently working on the trigger which is now only 2.5-3 pounds, which they plan on increasing. Three pins are utilized for takedown with a bolt release button to remove the bolt. They are aiming for a starting MSRP of $2,157 for the MDR-C in .223 Rem and $2,450 for the .308 MDR rifle.

New Guns from Kel-Tec 2014: RDB and M43 Bullpup
Kel-Tec only introduced the RDB and M43 Bullpup rifles for SHOT Show 2014. These are essentially the same rifle with the only difference being the respective Polymer and Wood furniture. I am not extremely impressed with the models they had on hand, but perhaps others can operate them more effiently. The bolt catch/release was quite interesting to say the least. The magazine release was easy enough, but many would need a little practice to get it down efficiently compared to more intuitive options available.
Kel-Tec expects to have 5.56mm models available by the end of the year with 300 BLK, 7.62x39 and 6.5 Grendel coming later down the road. They are working toward having a non-reciprocating charging handle.

New VLTOR KeyMod Handguards and Firearms
We had the chance to talk with a representative from VLTOR about their latest products at SHOT Show and they have a lot of great offerings on hand. She noted that they have taken so long to come to market with a handguard featuring their own KeyMod Direct Attachement System as previous models would get far to hot after several rounds were fired from the rifle. VLTOR has fixed the problem and you can now expect a blitzkrieg of VLTOR KeyMod products to hit the market including nine new rifles (VLTOR Weapon System - VWS), several great handguard options for AR-15/M4 and SCAR rifles, as well as a Polylithic Upper w/ KeyMod called the VIS-KM.
We have provided photos for all of VLTOR's new Rifles and SBR selections. The VWS Warrior firearms utilize the VIS-KM Polylithic Upper, while the VWS Defender firearms have the CASV-KM Free Float Handguards. The VWS Praetorian has the VIS-KM10 Polylithic Upper and can be customized to meet the need of Law Enforcement agencies, but is also available to civilians in its standard configuration.

There will be five lengths for the VIS-KM Polylitic Upper ranging from 15" to 21.5" with weights starting at 16.5 ounces up to 24.1 ounces. The handguards range from 7" to 15". The VLTOR KeyMod Handguard line also includes the CASV-KM Free Float Hanguards with Keymod. The front top section is cut out for the CAS-FS Flip Sight. The CASV-KM are available in 8, 9, and 10 inch models with OAL starting at 13.85". Weight starts at 12.45 ounces. The lower handguard can be removed on all options for under mount devices.

SIG SAUER 2014 Firearms Catalog
We can always expect some pleasant surprises from SIG SAUER and they managed to offer several at this years SHOT Show with various new additions to their pistol and rifle lines. One of the more interesting additions was the SIG556xi featuring a standard model which can be altered to utilize three calibers (5.56mm, 7.62x39mm, and .300 BLK). SIG also has a Carbon and SBR (SB15) variant in all three calibers, as well as the Russian variant only in 7.62x39mm, which takes AK-47 magazines, while the other models take standard AR-15 style mags. They will also be offering various barrel lengths, folding and adjustable stocks, and Aluminum or Carbon Fiber Handguards.

Timney Tavor SAR Trigger
Aftermarket Drop-In Triggers are starting to roll out for the IWI Tavor SAR and one of the more respected names in the industry, Timney will be on board with their own version. They had one on display and it has a very crisp break with a trigger pull of 3 pounds. It may vary slightly for production models, but it is quite nice as is.

Ares Armor GAVEL Safety Selector
We stopped by the Ares Armor booth and they are introducing the GAVEL Safety Selector. The GAVEL is designed with a 55 degree throw, decreasing your time to switch from Safe to Sentenced (Fire). The unique design of The Gavel allows you to adjust the safe position in 30 degree increments There are many different ways to set up your Gavel. The most common is in the standard position with safe at 0 and sentenced at 55 or however you deem fit for your personal needs. Selection is made at the time of installation.

SWORD International MK-18 Mod 0
We touched on the MK18 MOD 0 a couple weeks back when SWORD International first introduced it. It is a great rifle chambered in .338 Lapua and relatively lightweight at just 11 pounds. They are also looking to shave up to another pound if possible. It features a 22" barrel and their own self regulating short stroke gas piston system. The MK17 Mod 0 will have a similar design and aesthetics in .308 Win. The side folding charging handle is non-reciprocating.

SGM Tactical 25 Round Saiga-12 Drum
Because more is merrier most of the time, SMG Tactical will be releasing a 25 Round Saiga-12 Shotgun drum. They had a prototype on hand with the capacity to hold 25 12-Gauge shells. AK lovers will also be excited to hear another product they have coming up that we will be reporting on soon.

Phoenix Technology Glock M4 Stock Conversion Kit
There are many pistol conversion kits available these days and Phoenix Technology is looking to take it one step further. They had their own M4 Stock Conversion Kit on hand which has a very simple design. However, they will be looking to sell standalone versions as well a package with a custom 16" Glock barrel, so that it is NFA complaint.
