Varan Camouflage Pattern
We have covered some of the wares coming out of PROF1 GROUP as they develop some innovative products under their P1G-Tac Brand. Its been a while since we have seen some new camouflage patterns, so we were pleasantly surprised to see that the Ukraine based company has now introduced their own in house camouflage pattern for export that they have designated as Varan.

The pattern is quite intriguing as it combines what gives the appearance of standard and block writing when seen up along with a more standard macro pattern, which appears quite effective at distance. The patent-pending ergonomic design of the T*Grip with its side-swells gives the user positive grip of the TAVOR for greater control during rapid and repeated firing. The design also prevents unwanted rotation which can occur on circular vertical grips. In response to a common complaint about current grips on the market, A*B Arms designed the T*Grip to follow the contour of the front hand-stop lip and prevent the index or middle finger from getting pinched in that gap between the lip and the grip.

Takedown AR: TNARMS 15 Survival Rifle
Tennessee Arms has now introduced their own model of rifle to the Takedown niche with an AR-15 Model. Its a bit more involved than the push of a button as seen with the Ruger 10/22 Takedown, however you will quickly see in the video below that the takedown and reassembly prices is extremely simple. If you can manage to taking the upper receiver off the lower receiver, then you can probably pull this off as well.

A-TACS Camo in Ukraine
If you have been following the current events taking place in Ukraine then you have surely seen a hodgepodge of camouflage patterns. Long before the protests started this year in Kiev's Independence Square, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense had been testing multiple camouflage patters with A-TACS Camo and MultiCam being most noticeable from our perspective. With the reestablishment of the National Guard in March, we can expect quite the cornucopia of camo patterns working their way into the mix.
Early this week we caught wind that PROF1 Group was donating their P1G Tac Uniforms in A-TACS FG Camo to the 79th Airmobile Brigade. We also got word that the 95th Airborne Brigade is utilizing the A-TACS AU Camo Pattern. Both patterns can prove effective in the varied terrain of Ukraine.

SDI agreed to sacrifice Gunsmith Jason Pfannenlstiel to the plains of Colorado for a week in order to absorb as much knowledge as possible from the reclusive Martin "Redwood" Solymossy. Gunsmith Jason was made to destroy a perfectly terrible under folder disguised as a range toy, and under direct supervision instructed in Redwood's style of AK Kung FU to create a lighter & more efficient defense rifle.
The only part of the rifle deemed worthy of reincarnation was the barrel assembly. The receiver and the crappy under-folder assembly were melted down to make a boat anchor for the local fishermen. A new receiver was created, and a coveted Hammer Trunnion was installed to allow the direct use of modern AR-15 mil-spec stocks. This particular build utilizes the Mission First Tactical Battlelink Minimialist Stock. They also integrated the Magpul MOE AK Grip and Ares Armor's EFFIN A Compensator AK.

Windham Weaponry Goes NY Compliant
We find it quite befitting that the company that started Bushmaster and later became Windham Weaponry after completing the sales cycle and landing back at their own plant is now making a New York compliant AR-15. Sure it may look a bit odd relative to a standard AR-15 Rifle and there will be the detractors stating that they are Kowtowing to the powers that be just to make a buck. However, we enjoy the fact that New Yorkers can now have a legal Windham Weaponry rifle, considering all of those in the media that like to use the term Bushmaster as if it was a dirty word. The connection isn't too much of a stretch...
Back to the matter at hand Windham Weaponry has introduced their SRC THD, which you can see in the photo above. A Carbon Fiber model will also be available, which simply swaps out the lower receiver with the material in its namesake and comes in at just 6.1 Lbs., 5 ounces less than the standard model.
MSRP comes in at $1092 for the standard option and slightly less for the Carbon Fiber Model, so you can probably expect a sub $1K rifle at retail. Bolt Hold Open: This new drop-in feature stops the bolt from closing after the last round ofthe magazine has been fired. There is also no button required to release the bolt stop when a fresh magazine with ammunition has been inserted into the lower. Simply pull back on the charging handle to release pressure from the bolt against the stop and then release the handle to allow the bolt to strip the next round from the magazine. This feature can be installed for all MPAR weapons that did not include this feature when manufactured.
New Handguard: MPA has completed a design on a new aluminum extruded handguard for the MPAR556 Gen II Sporting Rifle. This one piece extrusion is lighter and stronger than the previous clam shell design and allows better ventilation and cooling for rapid fire.

Adjustable Gas Block: MPA's new adjustable gas block has a stem adjustment rod to provide four different settings of gas flow through the piston system. The adjustment stem is located through the front handguard cap for easy access by the shooter.
Black Nitride Barrels: The MPAR barrels have been upgraded to black nitride, which provides a hard, durable and corrosion resistant surface to the OD and ID of the barrel. Nitriding impregnates the material and is not a coating. No loss of accuracy as compared to hard chrome lining.

A Different View on Handgun Training
Monderno has a great look at "Vision Under Stress" written by Aaron Cowan from Sage Dynamics Firearms Training. The first paragraph had us hooked and it definitely gives a great perspective on the wide range of variables to consider when properly training for self defense with a handgun.
I remember that it took forever to clear my shirt off my gun, I yanked up on it so hard with my off hand, just like I had been trained, that the bottom buttons were torn right off the shirt. I found my gun and drew, my first round was from the hip. The shot was low; hit him just above the waist. I think I expected him to go down, stupid thinking that now, but I didn’t know much about what bullets did and didn’t do when they hit the body. He shot before or just after I drew, I didn’t feel it hit me, didn’t think it did. I just pressed out and fired. They told me later I fired 12 rounds.
I was moving and pulling, trying to get to some sort of cover. I thought there was something wrong, like I was shooting squibs or something, I didn’t hear anything. All I could see was his weapon, then nothing. He was down, sort of slumped against the wall, leaning on the edge of a shelf. I reloaded on programming. It wasn’t anything like I had expected it would be. I never once saw my sights, can’t remember my grip, my stance, anything. All the range training I had up to that point may have helped me, but I couldn’t tell you how.
