Prepubescent Autonomous Gun Manufacturers of Marin County

$

One would expect the environs around Berkeley to churn out an autonomous garbanzo bean blender to churn out hummus for a scraggly hackey sack circle. However, some young gents from Marin County, California are putting their noggins to much better use in creating an Autonomous Sentry Gun.

Now we are sure some tin foil hats are doing their algebra and this makes perfect sense for some tree hugging Commiefornians as they look to disarm the masses, in order for their autobots to move in and enslave the worker bees. However, we just see some youngins looking to put together a kick ass robot and perhaps shoot stuff, though that Captain America T-Shirt looks suspicious. Perhaps that one has ulterior motives and is a government plant for this nerd cluster. That is an official term for such groupings, so no offense given. Nonetheless we fear for the day our robot overlords step up their game, so be sure to take a close look at the video and make a determination for yourself as to motives at hand.

The combo package includes the Oakley M-Frame 2.0 with a custom Cerakote in RAL-8000 Tan, which matches the HK G36KE. They throw in some Oakley SI Gloves for good measure. U.S. Army's History and Art Collection

National Geographic put out this piece showing the warehouse storing a historic archive of art and memorabilia from the U.S. Army's military history. It is great to see that these works are being preserved and utilized to mark a particular point in time for posterity. Even better would be finding a way to display more of these items in a manner that would not impede its preservation. I know I would drop some cash for the opportunity to visit such a museum and help in the effort.

Quantum Stealth Camouflage Hits the Small Screen

It would be quite ponderous if there was a camouflage system available that operated as an invisibility cloak and was not quickly utilized by the U.S. Army if it was cost effective and could be easily utilized out in the field once developed to its full potential. We ventured into the realm of possibilities previously, so we won't wax poetic. However, with the latest revelations that the U.S. Army is adopting Scorpion camouflage as their transitional pattern to replace UCP, it is not to difficult to see how a long drawn out testing procedure and many variables/stumbling blocks at play can complicate a process to the point where the final result denies the most effective product from being utilized.

Quantum Stealth (Hide)
Quantum Stealth is being touted as an end all camouflage with the capability to bend light and effectively provide the ultimate concealment. The producers of the new season of the television series Continuum had caught on to the hubbub out in the media concerning the HyperStealth creation which fits right in with their futuristic sci-fi genre series.

HyperStealth Quantum Stealth Camouflage Mimicry on T.V. Series Continuum (Reveal)
I think its quite befitting that the producers were looking for a camouflage pattern that would be utilized in 2077, given the over half century departure from the present. After all seeing what I have seen in recent developments, it would not be too much of a stretch for the U.S. Army to start utilizing a pattern produced a half century ago. Of course when you have a fictional series, skies the limit.

These producers of Continuum wanted an advanced technology and came to the HyperStealth offices in Vancouver where the show happens to take place for advisement. Guy Cramer told them that he already had what they were looking for, but it wasn't a pattern rather a light bending material, which they jumped on by integrating an invisibility suit that could be activated for complete concealment. In their meetings they discussed the best means to mimic the military version of Quantum Stealth without utilizing the actual product.

The final result is a new logo for HyperStealth and the technology hitting the small screen with an airing taking place this past Sunday on Canadian Television and will make another showing this coming Friday in the US at 10/9c in Season 3 of Continuum for Episode 3 "Minute of Silence" on the Syfy network. You can expect more to come further down the line. A Green Screen with special effects were utilized to mimic Quantum Stealth for security reasons. You can see some screen shots from the show above to see a glimpse of how their creation for the small screen turned out.

The award winning series centers on the conflict between a group of rebels from the year 2077 who time-travel to Vancouver, BC, in 2012, and a police officer who accidentally accompanies them. In spite of being many years early, the rebel group decides to continue its violent campaign to stop corporations of the future from replacing governments, while the police officer endeavours to stop them without revealing to anyone that she and the rebels are from the future.

The integration of Quantum Stealth has intrigued us, so we will definitely be checking it out. We haven't seen a whole lot of interest from the U.S. Military at least out in the open, but if the technology is possible (believe it when we don't see it), we would certainly like to witness it get put to good use. Perhaps the Army will just come to the realization that OD Green blends in with grass really well and revert back to that.

Spyderco Mid-Year Catalog

Check out the latest knives added to the lineup at Spyderco. We are really digging their more diverse product mix. You definitely know a Spyderco blade when you see it, but that Burch Chubby and Bowie are going to be a great addition to a lot of folk's collections. The Roadie is quite nice given the defunct parameters that the TSA had put forth to allow knives back on flights, but I wouldn't hold my breath on being able to carry one onboard any time soon. From the Carbon Fiber Scaled Rubicon to the Dog Tag Folder, we see that Spyderco is definitely looking for a wide ranging product mix.

NSSF Speaks Out on Operation Choke Point

De Facto bans have been instituted for various items through the control of financial institutions. One of the more effective measures took place to block online gambling. Now the powers that be are looking to similar solutions to block perfectly legal firearms manufacturers, distributors and retailers from easily conducting business. This is not tin foil logic at work, but proven events and measures put forth by various entities that are at this point merely speed bumps.

There are plenty of banks and other processors willing to take the large business put forth by the industry and entities like McMillan Merchant Services have been developed specifically to it is becoming quite clear that through actions given the moniker "Operation Choke Point', the Federal Government is looking for a means to institute a De Facto Ban or in the least create even more hurdles for an industry already inundated with arbitrary measures and taxes leaving customers waiting and/or paying premiums for NFA items. The NSSF has addressed this issue providing further legitimacy to claims that these actions are taking place. We have provided their full release below. We look forward to the NSSF and other organizations working hand in hand with legislators to stop such actions if they persist.

NEWTOWN, Conn. -- The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) today issued the following statement:

The National Shooting Sports Foundation has been investigating the possible role of the federal government in influencing banks in their lending and business banking relationship decisions regarding companies in our industry. We have heard from several industry members that they had banking relationships terminated by their lending institutions.

We respect the right of financial institutions to make business decisions based on objective criteria. It is unacceptable, however, to discriminate against businesses simply because they are engaged in the lawful commerce of firearms, an activity protected by the Second Amendment. NSSF staff has met with members of the House Financial Services Committee and members of the Oversight and Government Reform Committee concerning several documents that have surfaced from the FDIC labeling companies in the firearms and ammunition industry as "high risk."

As a result, we have worked with U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-MO) and expect that he will offer today an amendment to the FY15 Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies Appropriations Bill, which would prevent federal funds from being used as part of "Operation Choke Point" or in any effort targeting companies involved in the lawful commerce in firearms.

We will continue to investigate the extent of any improper government involvement and will update our members as more information becomes available.

About Vertx

Performance is not by accident. Born out of necessity, Vertx was established after a top federal agency approached a group of award-winning designers with one simple request – to develop a line of apparel bearing full tactical features and a low-profile appearance for covert application.

After intensive pattern revisions, numerous fabric samples and countless hours of wear-testing in the field, Vertx hit the shelves in 2009 and never looked back.

John from UW Gear in conjunction with their Alpha Charlie Concepts Youtube Channel has a great video highlighting the 50/50 NYCO BDU selection from TRU-SPEC in the ever popular Woodland pattern. He touches on the key aspects that make this a unique military uniform selection and all the relevant selection even in the 21st Century. We are still seeing the U.S. Army utilizing the Woodland Camouflage pattern in some instances and as you know a 50/50 NYCO Ripstop fabric is the preferred option for non-FR uniform options. Sure the ACU Cut Uniform still covers the majority of Soldiers and you can see some elements integrated in this particular Battle Dress Uniform. We wouldn't be surprised if we started seeing more Woodland popping up one day.

He also touches on the popular TRU Quarter Zip Combat Shirt with Woodland Sleeves and the Adjuatable Boonie Hat.  Check out the other videos in their series offering more reviews of great military clothing and gear. You can see our full line of TRU-SPEC products at PredatorACU.com

We have been waiting for the chance to see the Gilboa Snake DBR in action for some time now and now Liam Brien with Guns and Ammo has provided a first look at the double barrel AR rifle. Initially the Snake was just a proof of concept, but Gilboa refined the design and integrated two separate triggers, so that you could fire the barrels separately for NFA compliance. It utilizes a double gas piston operating system and will be available in a 16" barrel model to avoid all of the extra paperwork, though we are sure you can get an SBR model as they show in the video.
